1. Which Eyecushion is best for cold climate use?

For cold climate use, fleece and microfiber can both be used. However, our cold climate choice is fleece since it has a warm feel against the face.

2. How long can an Eyecushion be used for?

It’s very important to change the operator’s Eyecushion frequently to avoid the possibility of a disastrous eye infection (such as Pinkeye). As a rule of thumb, put on a new Eyecushion twice per day. If someone other than the Camera Operator is pressing their eye against the Eyecushion, change it more often. If you’re shooting in a hot, humid environment, you may also need to change it more frequently. Even if the Eyecushion appears to be clean after a half day of shooting, it certainly is not. Please don't compromise the Camera Operator’s well being!

3. What is Chamois?

Bluestar chamois is natural oil-tanned sheepskin which we import from England. We use English Chamois exclusively because of the manufacturing standard, cleanliness and superior absorption. Please be aware of counterfeit chamois which cannot guarantee cleanliness, health safety and quality. More about chamois: http://chamoisinstitute.org/Brochure/brochure.html

4. What is Microfiber?

Microfiber is an extremely soft, synthetic material that has excellent sweat-absorption qualities. Our top-quality microfiber is manufactured in Japan and is colorfast, meaning that the dye will not run.

5. Can Eyecushions be washed?

Eyecushions can be washed, but we do not recommend it. Eyecushions are designed for one-time-use given that that they protect the Camera Operator's eye from dirt and infections and provide superior comfort. One should always have a fresh, new Bluestar Eyecushion on the eyecup when shooting - but limited washing of used eyecushions is always preferred to re-using a soiled eyecushion. However, please note that hand or machine washing an eyecushion with soap or detergent may compromise quality: chamois often becomes hard and brittle, washing may distort the eyecushion, and our excellent adhesive's holding power which bonds the foam to the soft eyecushion 'face' could be affected.

6. Where are Bluestar Eyecushions made?

Every Bluestar Eyecushion is made in Toronto, Ontario, Canada under close supervision of the Bluestar Team.

7. How do I know which Bluestar Eyecushion fits which camera?

The easiest way to figure that out is to review our Camera Eyecushion Selector Chart.

If you are unable to locate your camera on our chart please email us the MAKE, MODEL &  OUTSIDE DIMENSIONS of your camera's eyecup so that we can reference you the best size Eyecushion to use. Please email us: sales@bluestarproducts.ca.
